Craig and Hanneli shared their wedding vows with a small group of close family and friends. The ceremony was held in the grounds of the Green with Envy Nursery and it was a beautiful setting to witness the union of these two lovely people. In keeping with the plant surroundings the reception was a soothing sea of green herbs and white flowers, and instead of the traditional table favours each guest was able to take away a bag of the herbs, which I thought was a brilliant idea. After the formalities and a delicious brunch we departed to the Durban Botanical Gardens for some pics with the bride and groom. At this point I must mention that I had never before this day had the pleasure of visiting the Botanical Gardens in Durban, and wow was I spectacularly surprised. Beautiful and picturesque the gardens made for a stunning and varied backdrop for the multitude of photos that were taken.

cute cousins
This brood of 5 belong to two sisters who I have come to know and befriend through our various photo shoots together over the years. What a wonderful journey it has been. These kiddies grow more gorgeous by the day! More pics from this shoot posted on my FB PAGE

gumboots and dandelions
I almost forgot to blog this shoot which took place at the end of November. It was a lovely time of the year to do pics as we had the warm glow of summer upon us without the humidity which was yet to come. Lucky me for happening upon a a lovely location for something different for this shoot. I have know this family a long while and this gorgeous girl was just a baby when I first photographed her. Its been a journey of sorts, and while I was developing my skill and taking shoot upon shoot over the years the baby girl turned into a lovely little lady. I love her coyness that comes with no airs and graces and that rather shy smile that has to be coaxed from her but is so endearing to witness. And don’t you just adore the gumboots : )

Sibusiso and Ntokozo had a midday ceremony held in the chapel of Secret Garden. It was a beautiful, hot blue sky day, the perfect sort of day for a wedding. After the ceremony we headed to a nearby area where Ntokozo had spotted a railway line to do the creative pics. Sibusiso, initially camera shy, soon warmed to the camera and the idea of publicly displaying his affection for his wife : ) Ntokozo, however, was a natural and didnt need the same measure of encouragement. What lovely people to work with, thank-you and congratulations!

one love
I will be honest and say that I always get a little nervous approaching a newborn session. These little people can be very unpredictable and can go from peaceful slumber to ear piercing screams in a record breaking matter of split seconds. Not that this was the case with this shoot : ) For the most part this gorgeous baby girl was either peacefully asleep or staring dreamily into dad’s face. I must also say that it helps big time to have two chilled parents around to do damage control when the photographer (yip, me!) exposes the precious bare bummed cargo to the elements which will invariably yield a moan, a cry or something a little more dramatic. But dont let that put you off, the pics really are worth the time and effort, don’t you think : )

girls girls girls
I love the diversity of what and who I have the opportunity to photograph. I met up with these four lovely ladies for a fun friends shoot at St Johns School in Pietermaritzburg towards the end of last year. These ladies were full of fun and ready smiles and it was quite novel working with all the props too!

with grateful thanks
With the end of the year approaching I would like to close in thanks, to my clients, friends, family, and faithful blog readers.
To my clients, I am grateful that you ‘let me in’ to capture special moments and help create lasting memories. Many clients have since become friends and I feel so lucky to be in the company of such warm, friendly and likeable human beings. Friends, old and new, have been so consistently encouraging with their advice and feedback, support, and lovely comments on my blog and FB page. I appreciate the time everyone takes to visit my site and I do so value every comment made. Special mention must be made of my friend Kerry, whose loyal support has seen me through many moments of self-doubt. Not only is she one of my biggest supporters but she does an excellent job of promoting my work and is also my very talented graphic designer.
To my sisters, my very best girl-friends, words cannot do justice to describe my love and gratitude to you both. To be able to share the good, bad and ugly, to be vulnerable and humanly errant, to be safely comfortable in the unquestionable knowledge that you love me and accept me no matter what – that is a valuable gift. I love you both so much.
Graeme Baker you are amazing and I am so lucky you are mine. Without you I would never have been able to take the first step, and every step since that you have been next to me, sometimes to help me at weddings, mostly to be my confidante, sounding board and my biggest fan. Everyday you are working out 1Corinthians 13:7..”love endures all things, believes all things, hopes all, bears all”. I could not love you more.
I have to mention my special children because they have taught me so much. My son, Cole, who has an eye disorder, has a fearlessness that is remarkable. His courage in the face of adversity and his determination has inspired me to persevere during moments of trial and questions of ability. Tayla my daughter has a light that shines from inside and her joy and enthusiasm with life has sparked a fire within me many times when the daily grind of life threatens to take over.
Most of all thank-you God for your faithfulness and for giving me ability and staying power, for giving me a life to enjoy and so many special people to enjoy it with.
Blessed Christmas wishes to you all.

made in heaven
It was a delight to spend some time with this family. The impending arrival of a new baby always heralds much excitement and it is quite infectious.I love chatting about nursery colours, possible baby names and the inevitable caesar vs natural delivery debate. These moments always leave a lasting impression on me and I feel very grateful that I am able to capture these special family times.

abundant joy
It was fitting to usher the festive season in with a photo session with this joyful family. The smiles came readily, and naturally, and it really was a fun-filled hour which passed by in a flash.
